A suspected stolen caravan, two shotguns and a cannabis farm were among the items seized in a raid on a farm in Darlington.

The items were found along with an unlicensed rifle and a large amount of cash during the raid carried out by officers from Darlington Neighbourhood Policing team and Special Operations.

A man was arrested at the scene and has been released under investigation.

Sergeant James Woodcock said: “Rural crime is a Darlington neighbourhood priority and I hope today shows that criminality and organised crime will be targeted in all sectors of the community including rural areas.

“Those that wish to utilise the land and security a farm provides to conduct criminal activities will still be proactively policed by the neighbourhood team and all possible disruption activity will be undertaken.

“Firearms licensing exists to stop dangerous weapons getting in to the wrong hands and Darlington Police will work closely to investigate any breaches and seize any weapons…
