Surrey Police dogs sniff out drugs worth £70k at Horley ‘cannabis factory’Posted by On

Surrey Police dogs have sniffed out more than seven kilograms of cannabis with an estimated street value of £70,000.

The two Spaniels, called Sox and Dave, along with their handlers PC Claire Bird and PC Colleen Drummond, made the discovery in a drugs raid at house in Horley on Wednesday (January 13).

It was part of a drugs operation across the South East as raids also took place at locations in Sussex and Berkshire.

Police say two “cannabis factories” were found, one at the Horley address and the other at a commercial site in Reading.

Between them, there were around 300 cannabis plants in various stages of cultivation. £100,000 of cash was also seized in the operation, most of which was found at the Horley site. This was in addition to the seven kilograms of herbal cannabis the dogs found in Horley.

As part of the same operation, three vehicles were searched at an address in East Grinstead and an address was searched in Hounslow, west London.

A man, aged 40 and from East Grinstead, and another man, aged 49 from Hounslow, were arrested in Reading.

A 59-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman, both from Horley, were also arrested. All of the arrests were made on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of cannabis. After being interviewed, all four were released under investigation while enquiries continue.
