Fourteen people have been fined after being caught with cannabis in the Carmarthenshire area within the last six months.

Each person has been prosecuted at Llanelli Magistrates’ Court within the last six months after police caught them carrying quantities of the Class B drug.

They include a 24-year-old man who was caught with 32g of cannabis in a Carmarthenshire village as well as a man who was stopped 15 miles away from his home with 28g of cannabis in his possession.

Each defendant was handed a fine that started at £80, with some even reaching £200, as a result of their offending.

These are the people who have been prosecuted for being in possession of cannabis within the last six months:

  • A 24-year-old man from Hendy was found to have 32g of cannabis in the Hendy area on March 17 this year. He received a £166 fine as a result.
  • A 34-year-old man from Swansea was caught with 28g of cannabis in Cross Hands on June 29 this year. He was fined £80.
  • One man from Ammanford was stopped by police in Llandybie who found he had 16.47g of cannabis in his possession on January 28 this year. The 21-year-old was fined £120.
  • A man from Hendy had 10g of cannabis in his possession in the Hendy area on February 21 this year. The 24-year-old received a £200 fine.
