Holness said he was stunned when U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Detroit found more than a tonne of marijuana in what was supposed to be a shipment of aluminum caps.
As he sat detained at the Fort Street cargo facility wondering if he’d spend the next several years in a U.S. prison, something even more unsettling occurred to him.
“I don’t know if somebody was waiting for me after I crossed the border to take the truck and kill me and throw me on the side of the road,” said Holness, 30, a Jamaican citizen and Canadian permanent resident. “I don’t know if somebody was waiting at the delivery to take the truck and kill me….
