A Tobago man was arrested Sunday evening after police officers seized 5.4 kilogrammes of marijuana from a vehicle in his possession.

The pick-up truck was searched during a port exercise conducted between 6pm and 7:15pm after the Canine Unit reacted to the vehicle.

Officers completed a thorough search and the marijuana was found in the tailgate and below the drawer liner of the vehicle tray.

The 45-year-old driver of Bethesda, Plymouth, who is a public servant, was arrested and is expected to be charged.

The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Jackman, spearheaded by ASP Joseph and supervised by Sgt (Ag.) Taylor and PC Joseph.

Meanwhile, in Trinidad, officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force also seized a quantity of drugs and ammunition Monday morning during a search exercise.

Officers executed a search warrant for firearms and ammunition at a Beetham Gardens residence around 3:15am.

A total of 500 grammes of marijuana was found and seized, and a 32-year-old man arrested in connection with the find.

The officers then conducted a search of an overgrown area near 9th Street, Beetham Gardens.

Eight rounds of nine millimetre ammunition were found in a clear, plastic container along with 30 grams of marijuana in a clear plastic bag.

The ammunition and drugs were seized, with no further arrests made.
