Two people have been arrested in Sutton Coldfield after an alleged break-in at a cannabis farm in Kingstanding.
West Midlands Police responded to reports of a break-in in Oundle Road in Kingstanding shortly before midnight on Monday (March 15).
They found a window had been smashed and the property was being used as a base to grow cannabis.
Officers saw a Vauxhall van leaving the scene and pursued it into Sutton Coldfield where it was dumped in Warwick Road, near to the Princess Alice Retail Park in New Oscott.
They chased two men and found one in a garden in Darnick Road in Boldmere and another in Jockey Road behind a shed.
On searching the van, which had cloned plates, they found a large machete.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “Just before midnight we responded to reports of a burglary in Oundle Road, Kingstanding, where offenders had smashed a window of an address being used to cultivate cannabis.
“Officers pursued a Vauxhall van seen making off and followed for a few minutes before it was dumped in Warwick Road and the occupants ran off.
“A 24-year-old man was chased into Darnick Road and arrested in a garden and another man, aged 25, was detained in Jockey Road having been found hiding behind a shed.
“A large machete was recovered from vehicle which was found to be on cloned plates.
“They’ve both been arrested on suspicion of burglary and car theft.”
