Police have shut down a large cannabis farm in Leamington and found two suspected modern slavery victims in the process.

Officers forced entry to the property on Court Street shortly after 5pm on Saturday (September 12).

Inside they found a large number of cannabis plants and electrical equipment which was seized.

Two foreign national males were discovered inside the premises and are currently being supported as suspected victims of modern day slavery.

Warwickshire Police say they are being safeguarded by the force and specialist organisations while enquiries are ongoing.

One man has been arrested in connection with the investigation and has been released under investigation.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “Leamington’s Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) have been running Operation Switch throughout the summer to identify and tackle drug dealing in and around the town.
