AGRA: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Monday bust an inter-state narcotics smuggling racket, with the arrest of five persons from Agra and the seizure of over two quintals of marijuana worth Rs 30 lakh.
The STF unit, tipped-off about the illegal consignment, called in local police for assistance and reached a bridge near Saiya police station, where they seized the truck and the SUV. Led by inspector Harish Vardhan Singh of the STF, along with sub-inspectors Munish and Manvendra, under the guidance of STF SSP Satyarth Anirudh Pankaj, the police team recovered 12 sacks of marijuana along with five cell phones and Rs 1,750 in cash from the suspects.

UPSTF officials said the contraband was seized from inside a secret chamber of a visibly empty container truck, being used to transport the consignment to Aligarh from Odisha’s Jeypore, escorted by a SUV.
