Heavy rain caused by Cyclone Hale was not enough to deter thieves who ram-raided a vape shop in Napier CBD early Wednesday morning.
A stolen vehicle was used to break into Cosmic vape store on Emerson St about 2am.
Goods were stolen from inside the store and the vehicle was left at the scene. A police spokeswoman said police were investigating.
“Police were alerted to the burglary at 2am. A group of offenders used a stolen vehicle to gain entry to the store, where they stole goods and subsequently fled the scene.

“The stolen car was left at the scene. The offenders were not located and enquiries are underway to identify and locate them.”
A staff member at the store declined to comment when contacted by Hawke’s Bay Today.
The store had been boarded up by noon on Wednesday and people were seen sweeping up glass inside.

It remained closed for the day.
Last week, another burglary was carried out at Clive Four Square, during the early hours of Thursday morning, causing significant damage to that business.
