Report from RNZ
Eight fire trucks were called this morning to a multi-level office building in central Wellington after smoke was detected inside.

A firefighter said the smoke had been contained to the seventh floor which is the top storey.

A fire truck crane was in action and witnesses said smoke had been coming out of the top of the building.

Fire and Emergency communications said it was a third-alarm fire – which measures the severity out of five.

The DomPost reported that a fault in a computer switch resulted in the building being evacuated after smoke was pouring from the building, which is bordered by Whitmore, Featherston, and Stout streets. The fire was put out with fire extinguishers.
