West Virginia Selects Metrc For Medical Marijuana Tracking System ContractPosted by On

West Virginia has selected Florida-based cannabis traceability company Metrc as the state’s new seed-to-sale system provider for the state’s medical marijuana program. West Virginia is the thirtieth state in the U.S. to legalize cannabis for medical use.

The West Virginia Office of Medical Cannabis or OMC noted that West Virginia’s new track-and-trace program will help regulators ensure that no illicit cannabis products are sold in the medical cannabis market and no legal medical cannabis products are sold unlawfully.

OMC regulators will be able to easily identify if an illicit product is introduced into the supply chain, as Metrc’s system tracks every legal product back to the cannabis plant.

The disposal process for any legal product is also similarly documented in Metrc’s system, enabling regulators to monitor if a product is being improperly removed for unlawful sales.
