Why a bright pink Salvos car will soon be cruising the CBD on weekendsPosted by On

A bright pink car will be soon be cruising the CBD on Friday and Saturday nights, helping women in need.

The Salvation Army is launching its ‘Pink Car’ staffed by female workers and volunteers to help women who find themselves in difficult situations on a night out.

Major Brendan Nottle from the Salvation Army says the initiative will be directed by police.

“When police actually see a young woman and an offence hasn’t actually been committed, they’re just concerned for her safety, rather than having big, burly police turn up they’ll call the pink car,” he told Neil Mitchell.

“If the person needs some extra assistance they’ll help drive them home.”
