A woman has died after being stabbed multiple times with a knife, and another woman has been injured, during an alleged fight on Darwin’s popular nightlife strip.

Northern Territory Police received reports about 8:20pm on Tuesday that a woman had collapsed in Mitchell Street in the Darwin CBD, near Shadforth Lane.
Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Morrissey said police and paramedics who attended had found a 28-year-old woman “with multiple stab wounds, bleeding quite heavily”.
She was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) but died soon after.
He said another adult woman, also with stab wounds, had also been found at the scene, but that her injuries were non-life-threatening.
The 33-year-old was also taken to RDH for treatment, but it’s believed she has now been discharged.
Police have taken a 31-year-old woman into custody, but no charges have yet been laid.
Senior Sergeant Morrissey said, based on CCTV footage, police believed the three women and “a group around them” had been involved in a fight on nearby Knuckey Street.
He said they also believed a knife had been used, with the injured women’s wounds “consistent with a knife”.
