Brayden Winson told police he probably shouldn’t have smoked cannabis before driving.

Young motorist Brayden Winson felt unwell after smoking cannabis, but decided to drive on.

It wasn’t a good idea.

Good fortune shone on the 20-year-old man on the fine Sunday afternoon of February 16, and the only lasting impacts were suffered by a long row of fences and the truck he slammed into.

Winson and two mates had been smoking cannabis at a Napier address when it was decided he should take them for a drive.

Winson was on a restricted licence and was not supposed to have passengers.

As he drove along Kennedy Road, a 50kmh area, he began feeling unwell. Rather than pull over, he carried on driving.
