Jefferson County deputies find 18 pounds of marijuana during traffic stop

A Jefferson County deputy stops a vehicle on I-22, finds large amount of marijuana in vehicle.The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies stopped a vehicle on Monday at about 1 p.m.As the deputy approached the vehicle, he could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to the police report.The deputy performed a legal search of the vehicle and found approximately 18 pounds of the drug, officials said.The driver, identified as Rafael Sequoyah Freedman, 26, of Berkerly, California, was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail.
