A Pennsylvania man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop on I-80 near Lincoln around 10:30 Thursday morning. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says the van was stopped by their Criminal Interdiction Unit for an improper lane change.
“When the deputy made contact, an overwhelming amount of marijuana was smelled. A probable cause search was done and 506 pounds of marijuana was located.”
33-year-old Brian Schmitz was arrested and booked for possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver. Houchin says the pot was not very well hidden. They found it in 21 cardboard boxes in the back of the van.
