A contract worker is in custody after being accused of bringing contraband into the Oklahoma County Detention Center to distribute to inmates.According to jail officials, investigators arrested a contract commissary worker on Monday. He is being held on two counts of introducing contraband in a penal institution (marijuana and cell phones), one count of possession of controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute (marijuana) and one count of conspiracy to commit a felony.Authorities said at about 8:30 a.m. detention special investigators conducted a search of the contractor’s jacket as he prepared to distribute commissary items to inmates. Inside the jacket, they found three bundles wrapped in electrical tape. The bundles contained five cell phones, 126 grams of marijuana, 151 grams of loose-leaf tobacco, 41 cigarettes, five USB charging cords and sim card keys, one pair of wireless earbuds, and two packets of rolling papers.“Introducing contraband into the detention center will not be tolerated,” Greg Williams, Chief Executive Officer, said in a news release. “Whether you are a contract worker, an employee or a visitor if you attempt to bring in illegal items you will be caught and held accountable.”The contractor is being held in the detention center awaiting official charges. KOCO 5 is not releasing his name at this time because he has not been officially charged.
