NOTE to cannabis users, if you have to get a cop to move your vehicle, best not to leave a bag of “weed” on the floor of the car in plain sight and smell.

Troy Warren Bloomfield was a passenger in a dual cab utility seen by a police patrol to swerve across Ruthven St about 10pm July 24.

Police waved down the vehicle which pulled into the driveway of the Royal Hotel on Ruthven St and police approached the car.

Suspecting the driver may have been affected by something given the way the car had swerved, police asked him to step out of the vehicle, Toowoomba Magistrates Court heard.

However, because the vehicle was blocking the driveway of a busy hotel bottle shop, one of the officers got into the vehicle to move it to the carpark, police prosecutor Rowan Brewster-Webb told the court.

As the officer was moving the vehicle, he detected the strong odour of cannabis.
