A drug dealer caught with ‘four ounces’ of cannabis has been handed a community order after it was found he sold the drugs to ‘fund a personal habit’.
Police discovered 31 bags of herbal cannabis in Jharmarl Johnson’s loft after officers executed a warrant at the property in Dudley on January 6 last year, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.
Prosecuting, Edward Soulsby, told the court ‘fingerprints’ led to the defendant being identified as the owner.

Johnson, aged 21, of Malthouse Drive in Dudley, pleaded guilty to possession of a Class B drug, cannabis, with intent to supply at an earlier hearing. He was convicted at Dudley Magistrates Court on July 27.
During his sentencing hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday, November 12, Mr Soulsby said the recovered drugs had a value of between £875 and £1,110.
In his police interview, Johnson – who has no previous convictions – answered no comment, said Mr Soulsby.
He said: “In his loft was found 35 bags of herbal cannabis. Fingerprints led to the owner, Jharmarl Johnson.”
Mr Justin Jarmola, defence counsel for Johnson, said his client had been of previous good character.
His Honour Judge Gosling said the seized cannabis weighed four ounces and was ‘worth quite a lot of money’.
Sentencing Johnson, Judge Gosling said: “You had never been in trouble before nor have you been in trouble since.
