GOLDEN GATE CITY, Fla. — Four children and one adult were taken to the hospital after accidentally eating CBD gummies last Thursday. 

Deputies with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) just released the report on Monday, outlining how the children were able to access the gummies. 

Initially, deputies and paramedics were called to a home on 28th Place SW near 46th Street SW around 8:10 pm on Thursday. Once there, deputies found the children, one of which was “lethargic and not moving…sitting in a family member’s arms.”

The four children and one adult were taken to the hospital for treatment after they ate CBD gummies they found inside. 

“I was like crazy,” said Michael, a seven-year-old boy who went to the hospital. “I feel — I fly. And I feel I was big.”

According to Michael, his one-year-old brother, Will, and mother, Monica, also went to the hospital. 

“I eat some gummies and the baby too, my mom,” Michael said. “Another cousin, he ate three. I ate one. My mom one. The baby eat one.” 

CBD gummies are legal in Florida. However, they can cause changes in mood, drowsiness and even sleepiness according to the CDC

That makes sense to neighbors who walked outside to find children being taken away by medics. 

“They were taking kids in the ambulances,” said Tim Clute. 

“The paramedics were carrying them, they looked limp,” added Sandy Copp.
