A probationary Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer has been terminated following his arrest on a summons in Boone County, IMPD Chief Randal Taylor said Monday.
Andre Gude, an IMPD employee of one year, was arrested on a summons for charges of reckless driving, marijuana possession and possession of paraphernalia.
In a summons arrest, the person is not taken into custody, but rather ordered to appear before a court.

Zionsville Police alerted IMPD to Gude’s summons arrest, IMPD said. Gude was assigned to the Northwest District Middle Shift and under probationary status, which Taylor said allowed him to terminate Gude’s employment immediately.
“It is my hope that promptly holding this individual accountable allows the more than 1,700 dedicated men and women who serve our neighborhoods every day to remain focused on our shared goals of building trust and reducing violence,” Taylor said in a statement.
