Traffic flow within the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) was disrupted after vehicles were unable to access Moi Avenue owing after trees collapsed on the road.
The trees fell on Wednesday, April 23 morning near Imenti House with the incident attributed to the ongoing heavy rainfall.
Both lanes on the Avenue were blocked forcing vehicles to seek alternative routes to get into the CBD.
Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) which also use the Avenue to leave the CBD and head to Westlands were also forced to use the Tom Mboya Street.

Motorists heading to the CBD and planning to use Moi Avenue were also advised to avoid the area and use other streets.
Notably, pedestrians could also not access the walkways within the Luthuli area.
At the time of publication, the county government was yet to deploy its officers to cut the trees and clear the road.
On the other hand, other estates within Nairobi flooded on Tuesday evening following rains that lasted for over two hours. Among the estates that were the most affected was Kahawa Sukari near Thika Road.
“If you are using Thika road from Nairobi headed towards Thika, the road is impassable near KU at Engen Kahawa Sukari. Heavy traffic as vehicles get stuck due to flooding on the road. Take caution,” read a cautionary message on Thika Town.
