A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being allegedly stabbed in Melbourne overnight.
Victoria Police were called to Elizabeth St in the city on Wednesday about 9:20pm after reports a male in his 30s had been seriously injured.
Officers believe a verbal altercation with another man led to the incident.
The man was treated at the scene and rushed to The Alfred hospital.
A 21-year-old man is speaking with police as investigations continue.
Officers could be seen speaking to a number of witnesses in the area, while crime scene investigators gathered evidence and took photos.
