Delaware’s General Assembly passed legislation to recognize the state’s charter schools, educational support professionals and more at Legislative Hall last week.
Senate Bill 280, sponsored by Sen. Sarah McBride, D-Wilmington, and Rep. Ed Osienski, D-Newark, passed along party lines in the Senate on Thursday.
The bill amends the existing state code relating to medical marijuana and labor peace agreements for facilities. Under this legislation, medical marijuana compassion centers and safety compliance facilities who employ 20 or more employees are required to have a labor peace agreement with one or more labor organizations.
A labor peace agreement is an agreement between the employer and a labor organization that prevents those organizations and their members from picketing or boycotting the business, prevents the employer from interfering with labor organization’s efforts to represent employees, and provides the labor organization an opportunity to meet with employees to discuss their rights to representation and terms and conditions of employment.
Legislators must reside in nominating districts
House Bill 395, sponsored by Rep. Paul Baumbach, D-Newark, passed in the House Administration committee Wednesday.
