PUNE: Pune city crime branch officials intercepted an SUV and a car and seized 520 kg of marijuana, together worth Rs 1.19 crore, on Saturday morning near Loni Kand on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway.
Two men and a woman were arrested for trafficking narcotics drugs. The SUV sported a red colour plate of ‘Maharashtra Shashan‘ (Maharashtra government) on the dashboard to avert police action.
A team headed by inspector Sunil Thopte and sub-inspector Shubhangi Narke arrested Sandeep Balaji Sontakke (29) of Khopoli, a woman (36) from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh and Mahesh Parit (29) of Khalapur in Raigad district.
Deputy commissioner of police (crime) Amol Zende told TOI, “The two vehicles were heading towards Navi Mumbai from Visakhapatnam when our team intercepted it.”
“The two men went to Visakhapatnam and were shipping the bags filled with marijuana to Navi Mumbai ,” Thopte said.
