Bokaro: Two persons have been arrested with 22 packets of marijuana from Bhubaneswar-Dhanbad Express at Bokaro railway station on Tuesday. The total weight of the seized marijuana is 40 kg, whose estimated market value is Rs 6 lakh. Another member of the gang was held from Hatia station on Tuesday.
Those arrested are 31-year-old Prem Kumar Chauhan, a resident of Asansol in West Bengal, and Jyoti Kumari (26), a resident of Dhanbad. “Both of them used to work as couriers in smuggling of marijuana,” said Rajkumar Sao, the officer in-charge who led the RPF team. “There were three people. The gang members made ticket reservation in Bhubaneswar and handed over bags full of marijuana to them which they were to take to Dhanbad,” he added.
The first accused was caught by RPF at Hatia station with a packet of 4kg marijuana. On his confession, a raid was again conducted on the same train while it was at Bokaro station and the other two were nabbed.
