‘Mindless vandalism’ in CBD car parkPosted by On

Seven cars have been damaged in the CBD overnight in an act police have labelled “mindless vandalism”.

Just after 1am, patrols were called to a car park near Festival Drive, after an owner returned to their car to find his driver’s side mirror had been damaged, his number plates removed and windscreen wipers ripped off.

While police were in attendance, several other owners returned to their cars to find them damaged with number plates removed or bent, windscreen wipers ripped off and one car marked with graffiti.

Another vehicle also had its roof and bonnet stomped on causing a number of dents.

The missing number plates were all located nearby and have been seized for forensic examination.

Investigation into the incidents is ongoing.
