(MISSOURINET) – A Missouri law enforcement group opposes a ballot measure that would legalize recreational marijuana for adults 21 and older. Kevin Merritt, executive director of Missouri Sheriffs United, says under state statute, a driver who exceeds the legal limit of alcohol could be prosecuted. He says that would not the case with marijuana under the ballot measure, known as Amendment 3.
Legal Missouri 2022, the group campaigning to pass Amendment 3, says driving under the influence of marijuana would remain illegal. The measure would clear nonviolent convictions involving three pounds or less of marijuana.
