MT. PLEASANT — A Mount Pleasant woman is facing up to 25 years in prison for giving marijuana to a juvenile.

Chelsie Flanegan, 27, was arrested on Monday and charged with drug distribution violation to persons under 18 (class B felony).

On June 13, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a juvenile with drug paraphernalia, and that juvenile was later charged with possessing it.

During the investigation into that incident, the juvenile told police they received marijuana from Flanegan, the complaint states.

On June 20, police went to Flanegan’s residence and conducted an interview.

During that interview, Flanegan admitted to supplying the juvenile with approximately one gram of marijuana, according to the complaint.

Police say the transaction took place outside of Flanegan’s residence on June 12.

According to Iowa state law, a person convicted of a class B felony can serve up to 25 years in prison.

Flanegan was released from police custody without bail Tuesday, according to court records.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Aug. 7 at the Henry County Courthouse.
