A 28-year-old man has been arrested and is expected to be charged over the fatal stabbing of another man in Darwin’s CBD at the weekend.

The 36-year-old victim died at the Royal Darwin Hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning after sustaining a stab wound to the stomach, according to Northern Territory Police.
NT Police Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Paul Morrissey said about midday on Tuesday, detectives from the Major Crime Unit had arrested a 28-year-old man at a home in Jingili, in Darwin’s northern suburbs, in relation to the incident.
He remains in the Palmerston watch house, with police expecting to charge him on Tuesday night or Wednesday.
Acting Senior Sergeant Morrissey said emergency services had been called to Cavenagh Street in the CBD about 11:30pm on Friday, by passers-by who had stopped to help the man.
He said the victim had been among a group of people when a “disturbance” had broken out.
“It’s gone down the street a little bit, and ended up in the incident where the victim got stabbed,” he said.
