THE four-day anti-illegal drugs operation in Kalinga province resulted in the eradication of over P339 million worth of marijuana plants in different areas in Tinglayan town, according to a report released by the Armed Forces of the Philippines’s (AFP) Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) on Friday.

The operation was conducted by the AFP-Joint Task Group (JTG) Peace and Justice, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the Cordillera Administrative Region from February 25 to 28.

Lt. Gen. Ernesto Torres Jr., AFP-Nolcom commander, said a total of 1,577,500 fully-grown marijuana plants were uprooted and burned onsite.

Torres said the team also destroyed a total of 102,000 grams of marijuana dried leaves, 86,000 grams of marijuana seeds, 20,000 grams of marijuana fruiting tops and 15,000 grams of marijuana stalks from the 11 plantation sites in Barangay Tulgao, 12 plantation sites in Barangay Loccong and two plantation sites in Barangay Butbut, all in Tinglayan town.
