P7.5 M worth of marijuana plants uprooted, burned in Ilocos Sur, La Union plantations

LA UNION – About P7,564,000 worth of marijuana plants were uprooted during joint eradication operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office I (PDEA ROI) and other law enforcement units in Sitio Balay, Barangay Sapdaan, Santol, La Union on Friday, Jan. 27.

PDEA ROI Director III Joel B Plaza said the team uprooted and destroyed more or less 24,500 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants worth P4,840,000 in six plantation sites with a total land area of 4,050 square meters in Ilocos Sur.

Also more or less 13,620 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants with a value of P2,724,000 in three other plantation sites with a total land area of 680 square meters in La Union were also destroyed on the same day.

The marijuana plants were destroyed and burned on-site right after the operation.
