The country’s first Police drug raid this year has netted marijuana, which is worth half a million dollars on our streets, Police has said.

While the nation was still celebrating and welcoming the New Year, a team of Police officers were combing the highlands of Navosa.

The fight was not just the rugged terrains made on foot and horseback, but also nature. The adverse weather conditions had the officers trapped in a village, but they made it back, even if it meant crossing a flooded river.

More than five hundred plants believed to be marijuana were uprooted from a farm in Takuinadi settlement, Nawairabe, Navosa, following information.

Police spokesperson Savaira Tabua said the drug operations team returned on Tuesday after spending a night at Sawene Village because of flooding.

Police are still looking for the owner of the farm.
