Police are appealing for information from people confronted by a man who allegedly attacked a group with a tyre iron in downtown Auckland.
Police said the man was acting “aggressively” towards others around the Britomart area overnight on Saturday.
In one incident, a group was confronted by the man near the intersection of Tyler St and Queen St about 2.30am.
The man allegedly pulled a tyre iron from his trousers and started “swinging” it at the group, hitting at least one person.
The man also punched another person, causing them to fall to the ground, police said in a statement on Sunday evening.
Anyone involved in either incident, or who had a similar experience on Saturday night, was encouraged to speak with police.
“This behaviour will not be tolerated by police, and we would like to hold this person accountable for their actions,” police said.
