Police seize marijuana hidden in mangroves near airport in TobagoPosted by On


Police said an estimated two kilogrammes of marijuana was found and seized in Tobago yesterday, hidden in mangroves near the ANR Robinson International Airport. 

According to reports, around midday on Wednesday, officers of the Crown Point police station, led by ASP Joseph and Insp Burris, received intelligence which led them to a mangrove area within the vicinity of the airport.

A search was conducted and a bag containing 1.3 kilogrammes of marijuana was found and seized.

No one was arrested in connection with the find.

At about 8 pm yesterday, acting on further information received, the officers executed a search warrant at the home of a 44-year-old man along Plymouth Road.

A search was done in his presence and officers found and seized 504 grammes of marijuana.

The legal limit in this country under current laws is 30 grammes per person.

The 44-year-old was immediately arrested and charged as a result.
