The Perth CBD will become a riot of colour and celebration as it celebrates Perth’s LGBTQIA+ community for PrideFEST 2023.

The Northbridge Piazza has become Pride Piazza for November and Northbridge streets will come alive for the annual PrideFEST Parade on Saturday, November 25.

The parade will feature a pre-party at Russell Square and the Pride Piazza at 6pm before winding its way through the streets of Northbridge and culminating with a post-celebration in Russell Square.

It is part of more than 60 events being held this month, including workshops, performances and speeches.

Pride FairDay was held at Hyde Park in the neighbouring City of Vincent on November 12. Other venues taking part include The Court, Connections Nightclub, WA Museum Boola Bardip, The Rechabite, Harold Boas Gardens, Pride Piazza, St Georges Cathedral, Cathedral Square, Palace Cinemas Raine Square, Air Nightclub and UWA.

The Pride movement in WA began on October 23, 1989, when “89ers” marched from the Esplanade to the steps of Parliament House.

Pride WA CEO Dr Lauren Butterly said this year’s theme was “Be Brave, Be Strong, Be You”.

“This year we present an aspirational showcase of the LGBTQIA+ community’s bravery, resilience and determination to fight for equal rights, visibility and respect,” she said.
