A personal trainer was caught with more than 200 packets of “gummy sweets” infused with cannabis which he bought online.
Jordie Riddell was caught with the “cannabis edibles” which prosecutors said could be worth up to £4000.
His solicitor said Riddell, 28, would consume about ten sweets in an evening as an alternative to smoking cannabis.
The court heard the edibles were comparable to “Jelly Babies or wine gums” but contained THC – the principal psychoactive component of cannabis.
Riddell was excused attendance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday but his guilty plea was accepted.
He admitted possessing cannabis edibles, a Class B drug, at his home in Haddington, East Lothian, on July 10 last year.
Fiscal depute Eilidh Yates said Riddell had been found with 215 packets of the cannabis edibles which she said was valued up to £4000.
Defence agent Melissa Virtue, acting for Riddell, said her client had only paid “hundreds” of pounds for the sweets.
