A SHOP assistant, high on marijuana, killed a pensioner crossing the street in a hit-and-run smash.
Hivda Altuntop (21), raced away from the accident scene, where she crashed into Penelope Coggan, 73 years old. She was then thrown 20 meters by the impact.
The CCTV footage showed that she was speeding at 38 mph in the limit of 30 mph and didn’t brake.
Altuntop was from Dovercourt in Essex. She then drove her Vauxhall Astra into the ditch half a mile away. Altuntop was taken to Chelmsford Crown court.
Mrs Coggan’s GP son, Michael, who worked in a surgery nearby, rushed to perform CPR was tragically was unable to save her.
Altuntop had been driving from Colchester to meet a marijuana dealer. Altuntop used country roads in order not to be caught.
Altuntop drove on following the accident, with a cracked windscreen. He reached speeds of 50 mph before colliding into the ditch.
She told a witness to “f**k off’ when they saw her climbing out of the car window and went to help.
Altuntop said she didn’t cause the death of dangerous driving because she was insane, and that she had paranoid schizophrenia.
She was found guilty of several offences, however, by an 11-to-one majority on all counts – even those from last month’s incident – after her trial.
The jury found her guilty of 2 counts of aggravated car taking, 2 counts of dangerous driver, 2 counts of possessing of a knife and possession…
