Two separate stabbings in Melbourne’s CBD overnight, including one outside a popular nightclub, have left one man dead and two others in a critical condition as police investigate if they are linked.

The two violent altercations happened just hours apart on King Street and Bourke Street on Sunday morning.

The first incident happened outside Inflation nightclub on King Street, where emergency crews were called at around 1.25am following reports of a stabbing.

Two men were found at the scene with serious wounds following “a large affray” outside the popular nightspot.

One man was left fighting for life after being stabbed, while a 19-year-old man sustained serious injuries.

A crime scene was established, with blood witnessed smeared across a white sedan parked outside the nightclub.

Just over four hours later emergency crews were called to Bourke Street at about 5.45am following reports of a serious assault.

Two men were found at the scene with life-threatening stab wounds before both were rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

A crime scene has been established, with Bourke Street cordoned off between Elizabeth and Queen Streets for a number of hours.

Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate but no arrests have been made so far.

Meanwhile a third violent brawl erupted just before 1am on the promenade at Melbourne’s Southbank.
