Three men who grew cannabis worth an estimated £66,000 have been spared jail.

Richard Richards, Lee Hughes and Oscar Stephenson all admitted conspiracy to supply cannabis over seven months and were handed suspended sentences at Caernarfon Crown Court.

Hughes, 25, of Bryn Rhys, Glan Conwy, also admitted an additional charge of possession with intent to supply MDMA.

Prosecutor Andrew Green said that, on June 22, 2017, police raided a house on Howard Road in Llandudno where a cannabis farm growing 50 plants was discovered.

Stephenson, 22, now of Cae Mawr, Llandudno, was found at the scene.

The value of the cannabis being grown was estimated to be up to £66,000.

The court heard the landlady at Howard Road, Joanna Hughes, was interviewed, but lied to police, claiming the house was being rented to a man called Thomas.

Further investigation found Richards, 53, of Maenan Road, Llandudno, was in fact the tenant after officers discovered he had paid a rental deposit into her account in May 2017.

The following month, Hughes had made the same transaction, the court heard.

A year later, in July 2018, another search was made at Richards’ address, where officers discovered more than £1,000 worth of cannabis.
